The role
Position overview
Lusety builds a smart street-lighting system: LIGHTWAVE luminaire controllers (Zhaga, DALI/D4i, RF mesh and LTE-M), LIGHT KEEPER cabinet controllers and the HORIZON cloud platform. The system runs in more than ten Lithuanian municipalities and is heading into large rollouts in Lithuania and Greece.
This person is the quality gate between engineering and the field. They test every firmware and platform release on real devices before it reaches customers. They build test automation so that gate scales with our device count. They also prepare and verify controllers before they ship to projects.
Key responsibilities:
Test Planning and Design
Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and procedures for hardware, firmware, and the HORIZON platform.
Define test scenarios covering functionality, connectivity, performance, stability, and reliability.
Establish release acceptance criteria together with the Product Owner and developers.
HW/FW/SW Testing
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system-level testing on real IoT controllers.
Validate hardware revisions, firmware releases, OTA updates, lighting profiles, energy metering, and DALI/D4i communication.
Perform stress, endurance, and reliability testing, including power loss and connectivity recovery scenarios.
Analyze hardware signals, communication protocols, and system logs to identify failures.
Provide clear go/no-go recommendations before releases.
Test Automation
Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for hardware, firmware, software.
Write test scripts and tools using Python, C, C#, C++, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve automated regression testing.
Electronics and Laboratory Testing
Read electronic schematics and troubleshoot hardware-related issues.
Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
Set up, maintain, and improve test stations and testing environments.
Device Preparation and Field Support
Prepare, configure, flash, and validate controllers before shipment.
Investigate field issues, including connectivity problems, data anomalies, and device failures.
Support production testing and device validation.
Defect Tracking and Collaboration
Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects in Linear until resolution.
Investigate root causes across HW, FW, SW, and communication interfaces.
Maintain test documentation and report results.
Collaborate with HW, FW, and SW engineers, participate in two-week sprints, and continuously improve QA processes.
Requirements:
Must have:
2+ years of experience in QA, system testing, embedded product testing, test automation, or a similar engineering role.
Hands-on experience testing products that combine hardware, firmware, and software.
Understanding of the interaction between hardware, embedded firmware, software, and system-level components.
Experience developing automated tests, test scripts, test tools, and test frameworks.
Ability to design automated test scenarios based on product and system requirements.
Programming/scripting knowledge in one or more of the following languages: Python, C, C#, C++, TypeScript, JavaScript.
Ability to read, understand, and write code for test automation, troubleshooting, debugging, and test tool development.
Basic electronics knowledge and ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
Experience building and maintaining automated HW/FW/SW test setups.
Experience with automated test execution, result collection, reporting, and failure analysis.
Experience creating and maintaining test plans, test cases, test procedures, and test reports.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to reproduce complex issues and systematically isolate their root causes across HW, FW, and SW layers.
Ability to work safely with electronic devices and laboratory test equipment.
Strong understanding of manufacturing/production testing.
Nice to have:
Hardware-in-the-loop testing, embedded firmware testing, CI pipelines.
Lighting control protocols: DALI/DALI-2/D4i, Zhaga; LTE-M/NB-IoT, 6LoWPAN or mesh networks.
Experience in a regulated product context (CE, EMC, cybersecurity requirements).
